A 27 year old female gas station attendant is robbed, then shot to death. It happened at the Gas USA station on Middle Avenue in Elyria, the same station that had the gas leak in the past couple of weeks.

Qiana Walton’s family says she had just closed the store at midnight and was waiting for her best friend to pick her up. That friend was late, and Elyria Police say in the meantime, 27 year old Vincent Jackson came along and ordered her to open the store back up. Police say recently installed surveillance cameras caught the robbery and shooting on tape. Saturday morning a co-worker looked at the tape and identified the man as Jackson, her brother, and led police to a home nearby. Police surrounded the West Avenue home for three hours Saturday morning. They say Jackson was in the attic of the home alone with a four month old and a four year old relative. Hostage negotiators talked Jackson into releasing the children, and he then surrendered himself.

Qiana Walton graduated from Admiral King High School and had moved away to Chicago for years before moving back to Ohio about a year ago to help her mom take care of her ailing father. Besides her parents, Qiana Walton leaves behind a younger brother Robert who called Qiana “his right hand, that’s how close we were.” Vincent Jackson is being held in the Elyria City Jail. He is charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated murder. He is due in Elyria City Court on Monday.

  3. This is disgusting. A man not having respect for another human being. I send condolences to the family and friends.

I hope that man is treated like the cowardly animal that he is and he gets what he deserves.

This happened about 15 minutes from where I live…the crime here in Ohio is crazy. People are doing any and everything crime related with no remorse for human life. My prayers go out to the family.

  5. That’s sad. I’m sure her friend (and family of course) are tore up about this. May she rest in peace. :o (

  6. Sick and disturbing… I was just playing around on Google to search my daughter’s name meaning and came across this article (her name is also Qiana). He robbed a gas station and took someone’s life, destroying her family’s lives, and all it was worth to him was maybe a couple hundred bucks… not to even mention he didn’t get away with it, SO WHY DO THIS?!?!?!? I pray that her family can make it through the pain of their loss, and I hope that guy never gets the death penalty; I hope they let him rot in jail til he dies, then they resuscitate him again to do even more time!!! Oh I’m upset now…
