Murdered: Michael Bailey

Posted in Murdered on November 22, 2009 by projectnewera

A Southern University student died in a shooting in San Francisco early Sunday morning and police are still looking for the gunman.

San Francisco police said Michael Bailey, 26, of Baton Rouge was shot and killed after he and three friends were lured to a housing project by a woman they met at a nightclub.

According to investigators, the men drove the woman to the project near Candlestick Park and were met by a group of robbers.

A police spokesman said Bailey was shot during a verbal altercation. His friends were able to get him back into the car, but he died at San Francisco General Hospital.

Police arrested the woman they believe set up the robbery, but have not released her name. They are still trying to find the man who pulled the trigger.

Bailey was a senior electrical engineering student at Southern. He was the father of two children and his wife was a recent graduate in engineering.

As an FYI, it has been said HERE that Mr. Bailey was giving Ariael Kittles a ride home as a good deed. The article above reads as though something suspect was going on between the young lady and three men who were in the car.

Body Found: Shaniya Davis

Shaniya Davis

A couple days ago, I was sent information from a follower on Twitter about a case involving a young girl named Shaniya Davis from Fayetteville, North Carolina. According to reports, Shaniya was reported missing by her mother, Antoinette Nicole Davis (below, left) on Tuesday November 10th and authorities began searching for her about an hour later, suspecting foul play.
manda

According to arrest reports, Davis “knowingly provided Shaniya Davis with the intent that she be held in sexual servitude” and she “permit(ted) an act of prostitution.” Shaniya was “given” to 29-year old Mario Andrette McNeil (pictured right) for sexual favors in exchange for drugs and/or cash. McNeil was spotted on security camera carrying Shaniya into a Sanford Comfort Suites hotel.

Sadly, Shaniya’s body was found today in an area bordered by Highway 87 south and Walker Road – just south of Sanford – during a second day of searching.

This has got to be one of the sickest stories I’ve posted on Project New Era to date. How horrible to know that a mother would literally sell their child to a pedophile in exchange for drugs? I will post more later….

Chicago Teen, Derrion Albert, BEAT to Death

Posted in Project New Era, Ridiculousness on September 28, 2009 by projectnewera

Editor’s Note: Warning, the video is graphic! I hope that Derrion Albert rests in peace! It’s almost to the point where people are beginning to feel uncomfortable allowing their children in the public school system. Sad and very disturbing!

UPDATE: Three teenagers have been charged with first-degree murder in Derrion Albert’s beating death.

Silvanus Shannon, 19, Eugene Riley, 18, and Eric Carson, 16, all of Chicago, were charged as adults ordered held without bond, the Tribune reports.

Prosecutors declared Albert an “innocent bystander” in the fight that led to his death.

Chicago police are still investigating the gang fight that erupted Thursday in Roseland that resulted in the death of 16-year-old Fenger High School student Derrion Albert.

Albert was killed in a melee near the school that police believe is a continuation of ongoing tensions between Fenger students that are members of rival gangs.

An amateur video of the brawl shows dozens of people punching, kicking and swinging wooden boards in the street. Albert was struck by blows from one of those boards, Fox Chicago reports, and the video obtained by Fox shows a person getting hit with a board and then stomped on after falling to the ground.

As people rush to help the injured person, a voice can be heard on the video yelling, “Derrion, get up!”

Missing: Mitrice Richardson

Posted in Missing on September 27, 2009 by projectnewera

Mitrice Richardson

Editor’s Note: This story is truly a mess. Everything from start to finish seems really suspect. I hope that they find her alive but the fact that there has been absolutely no contact made to her family, it doesn’t seem very hopeful. Lift her and her family up, you guys. They’re going to need it.

The father of a woman missing since Friday believes his daughter is being held against her will.

Michael Richardson says he’s been conducting his own investigation into the disappearance of his daughter Mitrice, 24. He says her friends told him she’s been acting strangely ever since she met a female friend who’s been supplying Mitrice with marijuana. Richardson says he’s trying to track that friend down in an effort to locate his daughter.

Richardson continues to blame the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for releasing his daughter after sheriff’s deputies affested her Thursday night.

Witnesses said Richardson was drunk and unable to pay her $89 bill at Geoffrey’s restaurant on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu about 10 p.m. Thursday, according to her parents.

Richardson was taken by deputies to the Malibu-Lost Hills station and booked on suspicion of not paying for the meal and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore told the Los Angeles Times. The marijuana was allegedly found in her white 1990 Honda Civic, which was impounded.

Richardson was released about 1:25 a.m. Friday because “she exhibited no signs of mental illness or intoxication. She was fine. She’s an adult,” Whitmore said.

Whitmore said the jailer offered to let Richardson stay through the night, but she declined.

According to her mother, Latice Sutton, a manager she spoke to at Geoffrey’s said Richardson appeared to be in “no condition to drive” while at the restaurant. Continue…

UPDATE: Mesac Damas Held by Police in Haiti

Posted in Project New Era on September 21, 2009 by projectnewera

Mesac Damas

This is an update in reference to THIS story!

Mesac Damas, 33, was held near the airport in Port-au-Prince.

Police are calling him a “person of interest” in the killings.

The bodies of Guerline Damas, 32, and five children aged between 11 months and nine years old, were found late on Saturday.

They were discovered at their home in North Naples, Florida.

Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said: “In no uncertain terms, this is the most horrific and violent event this community has ever experienced.

“Every homicide is tragic, however this is the worst of the worst.”

The man’s father, Jean Damas Sr, told the Naples Daily News his son had called his brother from Haiti.

Damas Sr also said his son and his wife have had domestic problems.

Family members in the US contacted authorities on Thursday saying they had not heard from the mother.

A missing person report was filed the next day, and on Saturday sheriff’s deputies entered the home in a gated community and found the bodies.

Authorities would not describe how the victims were killed, pending an investigation.

Collier County sheriff’s office chief investigator Jim Williams said “the couple has a history of violence that has been in the court system”.

The sheriff also claimed police had gone twice in the past year to the Damas home to respond to “domestic violence” complaints, most recently in January.

Six people were found killed inside their Florida home on Saturday evening, local officials said on Sunday morning.

A suspect is being sought after detectives found Mesac Damas’ wife and five young children dead inside their residence in the 800 block of Hampton Circle in North Naples around 6.30 p.m. local time.

The husband of the wife, and the father of the five murdered children, is being sought in connection with the crime. He was identified as Mesac Damas who is 33-years-old. Detectives described Damas as black, 6 feet 2 inches, 230 pounds with short black hair and brown eyes.

According to a Collier County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman, Damas is possibly driving a black GMC Yukon Denali with Florida license plate M360PR.

Detectives did not immediately release the cause of death for the victims but called it a homicide investigation. One media report cited an official as saying the victims had not been shot but refused to release other information.

Earlier this week, Mesac Damas updated his Facebook status saying: “Good people do not go to heaven, only sinners do! Thank you God I am going to heaven.”

Anyone with information on Damas’ whereabouts is being asked to call the Collier County Sheriff’s Office at (239) 252-9300. If you want to remain anonymous and still be eligible for a reward call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-789-TIPS.

Amber Alert: Jourdan Keel

Posted in Missing, Project New Era on September 21, 2009 by projectnewera

Jourdan Keel

Police issued an Amber Alert on Friday, Sept. 4, for a 4-year-old with cerebral palsy last seen Thursday with his father.

The child is Jourdan Keel, who police described as black, 3-foot, six-inches tall and weighing 40 pounds.

Police said the father is a known drug user. They are looking for a 2002 burgundy Chrysler minivan with temporary Ohio tags S958511. Detective Steve Derringer said the van does not have tags on the front.

The child needs medication three times a day, and police are concerned about his health and safety, Derringer said.

“The last time he had his medication was 9 a.m. yesterday,” Derringer said, Friday.

The detective said the last time Jourdan was seen was 1 p.m. Thursday when he and his father arrived for an appointment at Childrens Medical Center for the child’s therapy. The father called the child’s mother that afternoon to say they were on their way home. The mother called police at 5 a.m. Friday.

Derringer did not know why the mother waited until Friday morning to call.

“There are some indications they may be heading to Connecticut,” he said.

The father is William Keel, described as black, 5-foot-10, weighing 215 pounds, bald with brown eyes. Derringer said the father has an extensive out-of-state federal narcotics record.

Anyone with information is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency as soon as possible.

Jasmine Lynn

One person was in custody Thursday in connection with the early morning shooting death of a Spelman College student hit by a stray bullet on the campus of nearby Clark Atlanta University.

Jasmine Lynn, a Spelman student in her 20s from Kansas City, Mo., was shot after gunfire broke out during a fight in the 200 block of James P. Brawley Drive, according to police.

Lynn was walking with a group of friends back to the Spelman campus when they passed by the fight.

“One of the friends actually heard the gunshots, actually saw the weapon and told her to get on the ground,” said Lt. Keith Meadows of the Atlanta Police Department. “Before she was able to get on the ground she was struck in the chest by a stray round.”

Bystanders rushed to help Lynn.

“I walked up to the girl ’cause she was laying on the ground,” said witness Danays Marquez. “She was drenched in blood and it looked like she was taking her last breath.”

A bullet also hit an 18-year-old Clark-Atlanta student in the wrist. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Police took one person into custody at the scene.

“One individual was apprehended near the scene and is in the custody of Atlanta police,” Spelman officials said in a statement released Thursday morning.
